Beach

We're home from our first real just-us family vacation, and I'm happy to report that we all had a blast and no one drowned. The ordeal of sunscreening three little bodies several times a day, and then worrying that they might get sunburned, or drown, did give mama some mental anxiety, but it was worth it.

On the drive down, James' listening-to-The-Horse-and-His-Boy face:

Angus reads his favorite book:

Sandy bottom!:

Also our view:

Dinner on the balcony (from which toys, blankies, and a piece of fake fruit were thrown, in the course of the week):

All three boys loved the beach. True to their personalities, James was more cautious and Liam more reckless in the water, but by the end of the week neither hesitated running right in and jumping over the waves. Liam continually got smacked in the face by them, or got knocked down, at which point an adult hand would grab him and pull him up (adult about to have a heart attack I assure you) - and he would laugh, or splutter and say "I almost sunk didn't I!" Angus mostly wandered around the beach and chased birds, or bummed food off other people (who thought he was adorable). Isn't he?:

They caught lots of jellyfish in those nets:

I'm so glad they're all mine:

We had dinner in Seaside one night:

We collapsed on the sofa at the end of every day:

Andy brought home Mr. Mackerel here, and his friend Mr. Flounder (not pictured):

He cooked them up for us the same night and we ate so. much. fish:

You must frame the last picture.

Looks like so much fun! Sippy cups and toys are forever being thrown off of our second level porch at home- they can't resist. And I agree, that last picture is a framer.

Yay for the beach! I can't wait to hear more details. I'm so glad it was wonderful. And mostly I like the baby boy bottoms on the balcony (and the alliteration in that sentence).
